Rows of connected greenhouses stretch across the grounds of Henan Lyuyuan Ecological Vegetable Engineering Co., Ltd., a working picture of smart farming. Unlike traditional fields worked by hand, this base runs on a smart agricultural management system built on the "internet of things + AI algorithms", which controls irrigation and fertilization with precision and weeds with lasers. Inside, the greenhouses are lush: vegetables are grown both in the ground and in pots, and they are thriving.

Henan is one of China's major agricultural provinces. Drawing on its own resources and working toward agricultural modernization, the province has developed an organic vegetable industry, keeping fresh momentum behind rural development. Developing modern facility agriculture has become a key way to upgrade traditional farming and build industries that enrich rural residents and advance rural revitalization.

The base of Henan Lyuyuan Ecological Vegetable Engineering sits in the service area of State Grid Puyang Power Supply Company. Smart agriculture moves fast and its greenhouse facilities run all year round, with both raising the bar for stability of electricity supply and electrical safety.

From the precise control of intelligent systems to cold-chain storage, preservation and outbound transport, a steady supply is what keeps production stable, holds quality up and carries the brand into wider markets.

"Many seasonal leafy vegetables go straight to supermarket chains in Henan province, among them Pangdonglai, Xianfeng Life and Taoxiaopang," said Cheng Zaiyou, chairman of the company, pointing to boxes of organic vegetables stacked on a cold-chain truck. "Every batch carries a traceability label and a certificate showing it has passed testing."

"We hold 17 organic certifications for our vegetables, produce 500,000 pots of vegetables a year and ship more than 10 tons a day," Cheng added.

To meet the electricity demand of modern agriculture, State Grid Puyang Power Supply Company has set up a one-to-one service arrangement. Working with villages on grid services, it has formed a team dedicated to securing supply, which makes regular rounds of specialized cooperatives, vegetable growing parks and large growers, and takes its service to the last link of the vegetable industry chain.

During routine inspections, staff members also walk maintenance workers at the base through the safe use of smart electrical equipment and show them how to use electricity properly.

For newly built greenhouse projects, the company has cut the paperwork required for electricity applications, shortened approval steps and streamlined its processes. Growers get faster, more convenient connections at lower administrative cost, backing the development of facility agriculture at scale.

The company plans to keep improving the layout of the rural grid and to put dedicated supply guarantees in place for agriculture-related industries, so that reliable power reaches fields and greenhouses.

Going forward, State Grid Puyang Power Supply Company will use a stronger grid to help specialty crop production become more efficient and keep supplies of farm produce steady in both urban and rural markets, supporting the growth of local specialty agriculture clusters.
