From Oct 16 to 19, the 2026 National Traditional Wushu Open Tournament (Henan Division) was held in Huaxian county, Henan province. With many participating teams and a tight schedule, the venue's scoring system, stage sound and lighting equipment, large display screens, security monitoring and supporting facilities all required reliable and continuous power supply.

To ensure the smooth running of the wushu competition, State Grid Huaxian Power Supply Co (State Grid Huaxian) pushed forward all power protection preparations and built power support for the event.

The competition covered traditional bare-hand routines such as taichiquan, nanquan, bajiquan and shaolinquan (Chinese traditional boxing); traditional weapons such as taichi sword, taichi broadsword, double broadswords, double swords, double whips, nine-section whip and meteor hammer; as well as paired routines, group events and other categories.

It includes competitors across all age categories from children to senior practitioners. As an influential national-level professional event in China's traditional wushu community, the Henan Division is hosted in Huaxian, part of the Grand Canal World Heritage Site.

Starting in early October, the company set up a cross-functional power protection team. Based on the venue layout and electricity load data, team members carried out multiple on-site surveys, identified and assessed various power supply risk points, and developed a tailor-made protection plan and emergency response plan. Roles, inspection priorities and fault handling procedures were clearly defined to ensure all tasks were carried out and tracked through to completion.

The team carried out a comprehensive inspection of power lines and distribution equipment at the venue. Inspectors checked 12.8 kilometers of power lines, 102 sets of high- and low-voltage distribution equipment and four tie switches, focusing on indoor distribution panels and temporary power connection points. Seven hidden hazards, including poor contact and damp equipment, were rectified. A total of 142 meters of aging cables were replaced, and temporary wiring was standardized to prevent equipment from operating with latent defects and consolidate the power foundation for the event.

Meanwhile, 36 power protection staff members, eight support vehicles and two emergency generator vehicles were deployed on-site. Four fixed duty posts and two emergency repair teams were set up, with a full stock of repair materials. Multiple practical drills were organized. The company also provided electricity safety guidance to venue managers to standardize power usage and reduce user-side electrical risks.

During the tournament, protection staff members worked on a 24-hour on-call basis. They increased the frequency of dynamic inspections, tracked real-time load changes and monitored the operating status of power facilities. With rigorous and meticulous service, the team ensured the smooth running of all matches of the National Traditional Wushu Open Tournament.
