On October 5, the fifth day of the National Day holiday, the Henan Assembly Center for International Road Transport in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone (ZAEZ) continued to operate at a busy pace.
That day, a Zhengzhou-registered international truck carrying wrenches and other goods pulled out of the center, bound for Russia. "Even during the holidays, we see an average of one TIR truck departure every day", said a Xinzheng Customs official on duty, pointing to the vehicle heading into the distance.
In February 2023, the launch of the Zhengzhou-Moscow TIR route saw the Zhengzhou-registered truck made its first trip abroad, marking Henan's footprint on the overland freight network under the Belt and Road Initiative.
In September this year, the Henan Assembly Center for International Road Transport marked its second anniversary, as the province's new cross-border land transport corridor continued to take shape at an accelerated pace. So far, Henan has opened 25 TIR routes linking Zhengzhou with nine countries, including Russia and Uzbekistan. According to Xinzheng Customs, 293 TIR vehicle trips carrying 3,990.6 metric tons of cargo were supervised in the first eight months of this year, with both figures exceeding the totals for the entire previous year. TIR operations have entered a period of steady growth. (Chinese source: Henan Daily Reporter: Wang GeCorrespondent: Jin Mengyun Translator: Zhang Yahan Proofreader: Ding Lan and Zhao Hanqing)
