A symposium on the study of the first and second volumes of selected works on culture by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, was held in Beijing on Friday.
Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech.
The participants agreed that the volumes vividly document the great historical process of cultural development in the new era under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core.
They said the volumes systematically present the guiding principles, the main content and the essential requirements of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, providing authoritative materials for in-depth study and practice of the Thought.
The participants underlined the need to consciously study and practice the Thought to better undertake the cultural mission in the new era.
They called for a deeper understanding of the role of the Thought as the fundamental guidelines for publicity, ideological and cultural work in the new era, its original contributions to the Marxist cultural theories, and its strategic planning for building a leading country in culture.
While acknowledging the importance of understanding the ideological and methodological approaches contained within the Thought, the participants said that it is essential to transform what they learned into practical actions that accelerate the construction of a leading country in culture.
Xi Jinping Thought on Culture was formally put forward at a national meeting on the work of public communication and culture in Beijing in October 2023.
The first and second volumes of selected works of Xi Jinping on culture were published in August. The two volumes contain 78 pieces of the most important and fundamental works by Xi on cultural development from November 2012 to February 2026, which come in forms such as reports, speeches, letters and instructions.
The publication is considered greatly important for developing a socialist culture with Chinese characteristics, igniting the cultural creativity of the entire nation, building cultural confidence and strength, and securing new successes in developing socialist culture.
