China is expected to experience an average of 2.25 million daily border crossings during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Friday to Sunday, and 2.15 million during the seven-day National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, according to the National Immigration Administration. Passenger flows are anticipated to peak on Friday, Sunday, Oct 1, and Oct 4, with the highest single-day volume forecast to exceed 2.4 million crossings.
Passenger traffic at major international airports is expected to remain high. During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Shanghai Pudong International Airport is forecast to handle an average of 105,000 inbound and outbound passengers per day, followed by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport with 55,000 and Beijing Capital International Airport with 54,000. Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is expected to handle 20,000 passengers daily, while Beijing Daxing International Airport and Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport are each forecast to handle about 18,000.
During the National Day holiday, daily passenger traffic is expected to reach 107,000 at Shanghai Pudong, 55,000 each at Guangzhou Baiyun and Beijing Capital, 21,000 at Chengdu Tianfu, 18,000 at Beijing Daxing, and 17,000 at Shenzhen Bao'an.
Land ports linking the mainland with Hong Kong and Macao are also expected to see significantly higher traffic, as holiday travel overlaps with family visits and a series of large-scale events, including lantern festivals, fireworks displays, and concerts.
The immigration administration advised Chinese and foreign travelers to check passenger flows and clearance conditions before departure and ensure that their travel documents and visas remain valid. Chinese citizens traveling abroad were also advised to check local security conditions and entry policies in advance and avoid destinations facing epidemic risks.
