A total of 70.21 million kilowatt-hours of electricity generated from renewable sources in Henan province have contributed to Shanghai's power supply so far this summer, according to the State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Co.
This is the first time that Henan has exported green power to another part of China, while Shanghai now collaborates with a total of 19 provinces for renewable energy.
So far this year, Shanghai has completed more than 11 billion kilowatt-hours of green power transactions, 25 percent more than the whole-year volume for 2025, which continues a four-year upward trend.
Market-based mechanisms have played a key role in promoting green power consumption and new energy grid integration, contributing Shanghai's efforts to the nation's dual carbon goals.
