By June 15, the summer sowing in Henan has reached 86.79 million mu (1 mu equals about 666 square meters), accounting for 95.4 percent of the planned total, according to the local department of agriculture and rural affairs. The sowing of the province's main summer crops, mainly maize and peanuts, has now largely been completed, with the exception of some late-planted soybeans, short-season coarse cereals, and vegetables designated for crop rotation.

Frequent rainfall in May has kept farmland soil well-moistened, creating favorable conditions for timely summer sowing across the province.

Large-scale sowing began on June 2, about three days earlier than usual, and was completed by June 15, five days ahead of the schedule. The autumn crop area remains stable at 76 million mu, including more than 57 million mu of maize, nearly 9 million mu of rice and 5.7 million mu of soybeans, which lays a solid foundation for stable grain production this year.
