On January 10th, the final of the 5th Foreign Languages Speech Contest for Introducing Henan to the World was held at Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics. A total of 107 contestants from undergraduate universities, vocational colleges, high schools, and primary schools across Henan Province competed on the same stage, narrating Henan's stories in multiple foreign languages and showcasing the historical profundity and contemporary charm of the Central Plains.
The contest was guided by Henan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Henan Association of Higher Education, organized by Henan Translators Association, and co-organized by Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics and Zhengzhou Guancheng Hui District Cultural Industry Association. With foreign languages as the carrier, the event innovates narrative expressions, promotes the better introduction of Henan culture to the world, and focuses on cultivating young talents with international perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills.
It is reported that since its founding in 2018, the Foreign Languages Speech Contest for "Introducing Henan to the World" has been successfully held four times. It has continuously promoted the "youthful expression" of China's excellent traditional culture and the "international dissemination" of Henan's contemporary image and gradually developed into an important brand for displaying Henan's achievements of foreign language education and promoting cultural exchanges with foreign countries. The 5th contest, launched in July 2025, has attracted more than 3,000 foreign language enthusiasts from nearly 100 universities/schools across Henan.
At the final, contestants shared Henan's cultural symbols, such as the Longmen Grottoes, Xinyang Maojian Tea, and Traditional Chinese Medicine with sincere emotions and diverse perspectives. Some outstanding works were showcased through the domestic and international communication matrices of Top News and Henan International Communication Center, garnering attention from audiences both at home and abroad.
After fierce competition, the contest ultimately awarded 16 first prizes, 34 second prizes, and 53 third prizes. Seventeen universities/schools, including Henan University, Henan University of Chinese Medicine, and Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics, were recognized as outstanding organizational units. This contest has established a significant platform for introducing China to the world and amplifying Henan's voice.
