As of December 5, the annual power generation from wind and solar energy in Henan has exceeded 100 billion kilowatt hours for the first time, reachinga total of100.1 billion kWh. This represents a year-on-year increase of 22.5 percent and accounts for 28.7 percent of the province's total power generation, which is an increase of 4.2 percentage points from the previous year, according to the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company.

By the end of May this year, Henan's installed capacity forwind and solar energy reached 76.22 million kilowatts, surpassing the province's coal-dominated thermal power capacity of 74.36 million kilowatts for the first time. This means that the wind and solar power has now become Henan's largest source of electricity capacity.

At present, Henan's installed capacity forwind and solar power has surpassed 80 million kilowatts, reaching 80.58 million kW, which accounts for 48.7 percent of the province's total. Henan has already exceeded the targets set in its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), laying a solid foundation for achieving carbon peaking goals during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
