According to the official website of Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone (ZAEZ), the new site of Henan Province Red Cross Blood Center, located in ZAEZ, officially launched trial operation on October 15.This marks that while undertaking the crucial responsibility of ensuring clinical blood transfusion safety for the provincial capital Zhengzhou, the center has entered a new phase of coordinated development with "Two Districts and Two Sites". It also signifies the accelerated implementation of the core functions of "Two Branches and One Center" within Zhongyuan Medical Science City (ZMSC).

It is reported that the new center covers an area of 102 mu (approximately 68,000 square meters). It will serve to build a national regional blood safety center, an emergency reserve center, and a research-oriented blood center. This will significantly enhance the regional blood supply capacity and provide key basic support for constructing a five-in-one medical science city integrating "Treatment, Education, Research, Production, and Capital".

Reportedly, the positioning of the new site in ZAEZ includes not only handling blood collection, supply, blood component preparation, and quality inspection outside the main urban area of Zhengzhou but also undertaking centralized blood safety testing, blood information management, emergency coordination and support, clinical transfusion research, as well as professional training, technical guidance, and quality control for blood station personnel across Henan Province. In the future, the new site will actively strive to become a national regional blood safety center, taking on the mission of nationwide blood emergency coordination and support.

Simultaneously, the new site will be fully integrated into the big picture of the construction and development of Henan Academy of Innovations in Medical Science (Henan AIMS) and ZMSC. It is committed to building a research-oriented blood center, forming with the existing site an innovative development pattern of "One Body with Two Wings, Functional Complementarity, and Dual-core Synergy". This means the new site will no longer be merely a "transfer station" for blood, but will evolve into an "incubator" for blood science and technology. Leveraging ZAEZ's abundant scientific research resources, the new site will make continuous explorations in areas such as transfusion research, information management, new testing technologies, and the clinical transformation and application of new biomedical technologies, in the hope of promoting the transformation of Henan's blood collection and supply cause from "supply guarantee" to "technological innovation" and "quality leadership".

According to statistics, on the first day of its trial operation, the new site of Henan Province Red Cross Blood Centercollected whole blood from 105 donors, totaling 188 units, and apheresis platelets from 21 donors, totaling 27 therapeutic doses.
