At 9:52 p.m. on March 30, a crisp whistle broke the night silence of the Shaying River. Amid eager anticipation, Henan's first 1,000-ton-class new energy intelligent cargo ship, "Yujiaotou 001" (Yujiaotou is an abbreviation for Henan Transport Investment Group), slowly sailed into the province's waters, marking a significant step toward greener and smarter inland shipping of the province.
What's the story behind "Yujiaotou 001"? It is the result of relentless efforts and innovation by Henan Transport Investment Group's Port & Shipping Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Academician Yan Xinping's team from Wuhan University of Technology, as well as leading enterprises and research institutions in the shipping industry. After years of dedicated research and hard efforts, this vessel stands as a testament to their collective expertise and commitment.
Being the flagship vessel of the research project Development and Demonstration of Intelligent and Green Shipping Equipment for the Shaying River Waterway in Henan Province, the successful launch of "Yujiaotou 001" in Henan marks the beginning of a new era for the province's inland shipping—one that is greener and smarter. It also brings innovative momentum to the transportation industry's transition toward sustainability and low-carbon development.
"On March 19, 'Yujiaotou 001' set sail from Hangzhou and, after an 11-day journey, successfully completed autonomous navigation tests along the Qiantang River, Yangtze River, Hongze Lake, HuaiheRiver, and Shaying River.
