With the recent expansion in China's automotive sector, Henan province is currently undergoing a robust growth phase. During the first half of 2024, Henan's automotive industry has maintained the strong momentum seen in 2023, achieving a year-on-year increase of 36.6 percent in the added value of its automobile and spare parts manufacturing.
In the first half of 2024, Henan's new energy vehicle production and sales reached 247,000 and 246,000 units respectively, marking increases of 369.6 percent and 364.4 percent year-on-year (significantly outpacing the national average growth rates of 30.1 percent and 32.0 percent). Specifically, new energy passenger vehicles amounted to 213,000 units, representing year-on-year growth rates of 562.3 percent and 539.0 percent in production and sales, respectively. Currently, new energy vehicles constitute over 46 percent of the province's total vehicle production and sales.
In terms of vehicle exports, Henan province has shipped 169,000 vehicles in the past 6 months, a year-on-year increase of 22.1 percent. Leading this growth are SAIC Zhengzhou, Kaifeng Cherry Automobile, Zhengzhou Yutong Bus, Zhengzhou Nissanand FAW Haima Automobile. According to the data of China Bus Statistical Information Network, China's total bus exports reached 27,551 unitsin the same period, showing a robust year-on-year increase of 39.36 percent. Among them, Zhengzhou Yutong Bus ranked first by exporting 6,500 buses, marking a year-on-year increase of 58.27 percent, and claiming a 23.59 percent market share. Notably, Yutong Bus also delivered 250 pure electric buses to Greece during that period, representing its largest single order inthe European market to date.
