At 9 am on May 26, an cargo plane (B747-400F) of Cargolux Airlines International took off from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, marking the first flight of the Luxemburg-Zhengzhou-Chicago-New York air freight route, a new route enjoying the Fifth Freedom Traffic Right opened by Cargolux in Zhengzhou, which extended the coverage of the Zhengzhou-Luxembourg "Air Silk Road" to North America.

On that plane were loaded auto spare parts, electronics, daily necessities, etc. The air route is operated by Cargolux B747 all-cargo plane, with one flight scheduled on every Sunday. With the launch of this route, the number of flights under Cargolux in Zhengzhou has increased to 18 per week, with 9 intercontinental routes, 8 of which are under the Fifth Freedom Traffic Right.

On April 13, 2015, the Luxembourg-Zhengzhou-Chicago air cargo route was launched, which brings Europe, Asia and America together, becoming the first route of Cargolux under the Fifth Freedom Traffic Right in Zhengzhou. A better-established Zhengzhou-Luxembourg "Air Silk Road" deepens the cooperation between China and Luxembourg. In August of 2023, the Civil Aviation Administration of China held talks with the Civil Aviation Administration of Luxembourg, reaching a consensus on the expansion of the traffic right between the two countries. On April 3, 2024, Zhongyu Aviation Group held talks with Cargolux in Zhengzhou to promote the launch of new air cargo routes, expand the air economic corridor with Zhengzhou at its core, and extend the coverage of the China-Luxembourg "Air Silk Road".
