On May 18, the Merak Functional Diamond Super Factory of Henan SF Diamond Co Ltd (SFD) was officially inaugurated at Zone B of Zhengzhou Xinzheng Comprehensive Bonded Zone. Additionally, "China Diamond·Sky Blue", the first color-cultivated diamond brand in China, made its debut on the same day, signaling a significant advancement in Henan's superhard materials industry chain development.

How powerful is this super factory? "The production of a 5-carat rough diamond like this takes approximately one and a half months," said Li Hongli, deputy general manager of Henan Merak Semiconductor Technology Co Ltd. "This factory is not only a key industrial initiative of SFD, but also the largest CVD diamond factory in China, boasting an annual production capacity of functional diamond products exceeding 1 million carats," he added.
Superhard materials, epitomized by diamonds, are hailed as the "King of Materials" and the "Ultimate Semiconductor", playing a pivotal role as advanced foundational and functional materials in China's strategic emerging industries.
"China is the global center for diamond production, and Henan is the primary source within China." In 1963, Zhengzhou achieved a significant milestone by successfully developing China's first artificial diamond. 60 years later, today, Henan has emerged as a leading province in China in the field of superhard materials. According to the data from Superhard Material Branch of China Machine Tool & Tool Builders' Association, China's artificial diamond production accounts for 95 percent of the global total, with Henan alone contributing around 80 percent of the country's output.
