On March 28, China Mobile activated the world's first commercial deployment of 5G-A in Hangzhou and unveiled the list of the first 100 Chinese cities to use the 5G-A network, with a plan to build the world's largest 5G-A commercial network by expanding its coverage to over 300 cities at the end of 2024. Zhengzhou, along with 7 other cities in Central China's Henan province, is among the first, marking a pioneering step into the new era of 5G-A commercialization.

5G-A (short for 5G-Advanced) is a crucial stage in the development from 5G to 6G, which boasts higher transmission speeds, greater connection density, shorter delays, etc. With the introduction of the technologies of Integrated Sensing and Communication, Integration of General Computing, Intelligent Computing and Supercomputing, and Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network, it expands the boundaries of 5G capabilities, enabling better interactive experiences by enriching the current 5G ecosystem, such as high-definition VR live streaming, instant video transmission, naked-eye 3D technology, XR, etc.

Since January, Henan Mobile, together with China Mobile Research Institute and Huawei, has deployed over 40 5G-A intelligent base stations in Zhengzhou, covering train stations, hospitals, schools, and high-speed trains, making Zhengzhou the world's first city with large-scale pre-commercial deployment of 5G-A intelligent base stations in multiple scenarios. Besides, in collaboration with State Grid Henan Electric Power Company and XJ Group Corporation, Henan Mobile has developed a variety of scenarios in the power industry for 5G-A RedCap, thus empowering the industry's digital transformation.

"Zhengzhou, Nanyang, Luoyang, Zhoukou, Shangqiu, Xinxiang, Xinyang and Zhumadian become the first 8 cities in Henan to use the commercial 5G-A network. All of them have established demonstration halls, providing users animmersive experience of the commercial 5G-A network," said a staff from the Planning and Technical Department of Henan Mobile.
