On March 14, cargo ships were busy unloading at the terminal of Huaibin Central Portin Xinyang city of Central China's Henan province, with various carts driving to and fro. To ensure smoothlogistics ofiron ore, grain, etc., Huaibin Central Port has scientifically strengthened its inner management related to personnel, vehicles and machinery.
"The shipment behind me is soybeans and rice, which will be loaded onto a cargo vessel within a few hours and shipped to Nanchang tomorrow. There are more orders this year. Preparations for the third batch of cargo are underway, which will be ready for shipment soon." Tian Qile, general manager of Xinyang Zhongyu Freight Forwarding Co., Ltd. told Henan Daily.
This year, Huaibin Kuanyu Grain and Oil Purchasing and Marketing Co., Ltd. also chooses Huaibin Central Port. "In the past, our goods were mainly transported by road or rail, but after being recommended by peers,water transport is now our priority choice, which is convenient and cost-effective, helping lower our logistics cost by 20 percent to 30 percent," said Zhu Haoran, business manager of Kuanyu Grain and Oil.
Covering an area of 1,500 mu (1mu equals 666 square meters), Huaibin Central Portis not only the largest integrated single port in Henan but also the most efficient one linking Henan with the Yangtze River and the coastal provinces with the fewest gates and the shortest distance. Besides, it is also a port with the strongest navigation capacity and the largest single-vessel docking capacity in Henan. So far, Huaibin Central Port has opened 10 container shipping routes to Fengyang, Yancheng, Hefei, Wuhu, Yangluo, etc., with businesses covering more than 10 provinces across China, such as Hubei, Anhui, and Jiangsu.
The economy around Huaibin Central Port is prosperous. Currently, the main types of cargo handled at the port include iron ore, grain, sand, gravel, outdoor furniture, panels, steel strips, textiles, etc., forming acoordinated development system featuring both bulk cargo and container services.
Huaibin Central Port has been fully exercising its strengths since January to strive for a good start in the first quarter.
