From the scorching tropical area to China's Central Plain where the cold season persists, a batch of Cambodian cargo has arrived in Central China's Henan province by a special freight train recently.
On February 20, CR Intermodal Zhengzhou Terminal in Zhengzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone welcomed the province's first Cambodia (Phnom Penh)-Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh)-China (Zhengzhou) road-rail intermodal freight train, marking a new green, safe, economical and efficient freight channel of CR Express assembly center (Zhengzhou).
Integration of logistics and trade is a feature of this train. About 4 million yuan or 1 thousand tons of high-quality cassava starchprocured at the place of origin in Cambodia was transported to Moc Bai port of Vietnam by road, and then to Zhengzhou by the China-Vietnam freight train route via Pingxiang port in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
"The cargo spent a 'Chinese New Year' on the train. Upon arrival, taking the advantage of the favorable geographical location of Henan, they will be distributed to other places across China after customs clearance." According to Wang Jia, president of Ouyuetong Multimodal Transport (Henan) Co., Ltd., "This is just abeginning. Next, we will regularly operate the China-Vietnam-Cambodia international freight trainand keepenrichingthe product categories."
Cambodia is a country along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and one of the earliestcountries to respond to, participate in and jointly buildthe Belt and Road Initiative.The opening of this route will further promote the co-sharing of the RCEP dividends, collaboratively build the "Fish and Rice Corridor" connecting China with Cambodia, and fosterthe cooperation between Zhengzhou and Southeast Asian countries in various fields such as agricultural trade.
