On January 27, a Spring Festival Gala themed "2024 Happy Chinese New Year·Henan Culture Meets Africa" was staged in Cape Town, the capital of South Africa, marking the first of three such performances in Africa successfully came to an end, winning applause and cheers of this ancient city with splendid culture. More than 500 audiences, including officials from the South African government and educational institutions, overseas Chinese and locals, enjoyed the gala. Sponsored by the Consulate-general of the People's Republic of China in Cape Town and the Culture and Tourism Department of Henan Province in China, the Spring Festival Gala is undertaken by Henan Sing and Dance Performance Group Co., Ltd, Henan Yu Opera Troupe, Henan Provincial Shaolin Wushu Training Center and Cape Town Huaxing Arts Group.
The gala lasted two hours. Performers from Central China's Henan province performed Shaolin Kungfu, magic shows, Henan opera and a series of traditional Chinese songs and dances. Traditional Chinese paper-cutting also attracted lots of locals to experience.
