A ceremony for the first China Railway Express freight train launched by Anyang city of Central China's Henan province was held at the local Wanzhuang logistics park on the morning of March 19.

On the same day, with the horn sounding, the train loaded with 110 excavators departed Anyang heading for Moscow, capital of Russia, via the Manzhouli Port in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The cargo is used for a coking project of SINOSTEEL Equipment & Engineering Co Ltd (SINOSTEEL MECC) and PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK). Refractory bricks, steel structures and related construction equipment will be transported in the following trips and used for the construction of a top-charging coke oven with supporting facilities. With an annual coke production capacity of 2.5 million tons, it will be the first export made-in-China coke oven (over 7 meters in height).

By the end of 2022, China Railway Express freight trains nationwide have made more than 65,000 trips, carrying more than 6 million TEUs of cargo worth 300 billion US dollars to ports worldwide. In January 2023, a total of 1,410 trips were recorded with 147,000 TEUs of cargo transported, up 6 percent and 13 percent year-on-year respectively.
