Chimes of the Warring States Period Discovered in Sanmenxia for 1st Time

Two sets of chimes of the Warring States period (475-221 BC), including 9 made of bronze and 10 stones, have been discovered at a large tomb cluster in the ancient Shanzhou city ruins in Sanmenxia city of Central China's Henan province, said a source from a forum unveiling new archaeological findings of Henan in 2022 on March 8. It is the first set of bronze chimes of the Warring States period ever discovered in Sanmenxia.

The tomb cluster is located in the west of Sanmenxia. According to Yan Fei, a staff of the local cultural relics and archaeology institute, to facilitate the construction of Sanmenxia Gantang School, an archaeological excavation was launched at the site from September 2021 to September 2022 with 570 tombs of the various dynasties discovered.
