On the evening of November 4, fully loaded with 50 containers of goods, a China-Europe freight train from Zhengzhou city of Central China's Henan province exited China through Alataw Pass in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and headed for Liege, Belgium and Munich, Germany, becoming Henan's first China-Europe freight train with its customs clearance handled through a new system.

The new system requires the person in charge of inbound and outbound railway trains to transmit the electronic railway manifest data to the customs department in advance. The customs officers will review and write off the data in accordance with the regulations. Railway operating enterprises no longer need to go through customs formalities upon arrival at the border.

Such a new system has greatly reduced the waiting time of the freight trains at the border by several hours through the simplified customs clearance system, thus improving the customers' time efficiency and lowering their labor cost, said Huo Xiaohua from Zhengzhou International Hub Development and Construction Co., Ltd.

Accordingto Ye Shengxin, deputy director of Zhengzhou Railway Station Customs, it indicates that the model of swift customs clearance for freight trains approved by the General Administration of Customs has been officially launched in Henan, providing a new breakthrough for improving efficiency while lowering cost.
