Henan tops other places across China in summer grain output, sown area and per unit yield in 2021. The National Bureau of Statistics said on July 14 China's summer grain production totaled 145.82 million tonnes or 2,916 jin (1 jin equals to 0.5 kg), an increase of 2.967 million tonnes (5.93 billion jin) or 2.1 percent from last year,of which 38.032 million were contributed by Henan with a sown area of 5.6921 million hectares and a yield per unit area of 6681.5 kilograms per hectare.

According to the survey on the summer grain in 25 producing provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, China's summer grain production totaled 145.82 million tonnes or 2,916 jin, an increase of 2.967 million tonnes (5.93 billion jin) or 2.1 percent from last year, of which 134.34 million tonnes (268.7 billion jin) were contributed by wheat with a year-on-year increase of 2.589 million tonnes (5.18 billion jin) or 2.0 percent.
Henan is the largest wheat producing province in China, and among its various summer crops wheat is a dominant. In 2021, Henan ranks first in summer grain output, sown area and per unit yield, each reaching 38.032 million tonnes, 5.6921 million hectares and 6681.5 kilograms per hectare.
