Since the State Council approved the establishment of the China (Zhengzhou) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone in 2016, cross-border e-commerce business in Henan has witnessed robust growth. From 2016 to 2020, Henan's cross-border e-commerce trade volume jumped to 640.88 billion yuan with an annual average growth of 35.3 percent. Besides, the province also led Central and West China in both the scale and application of cross-border e-commerce and the building of the zone, according to the Department of Commerce of Henan Province on May 6.

From 2016 to the end of 2020, Henan totally cultivated and approved 28 cross-border e-commerce demonstration parks at the provincial level and 12 talent training and enterprise incubation platforms for cross-border e-commerce business, thus forming a number of industrial clusters of cross-border e-commerce export services, such as machine manufacturing, hair products, clothing, shoes, hats, etc. Over the past 5 years, 28,791 cross-border e-commerce enterprises were registered in Henan with businesses covering 196 countries and regions. Among them, 77 established 183 overseas warehouses in 43 countries and regions, shaping a new pattern of multi-city coordination, equal emphasis on import and export, integration of online and offline services.
The rapid development of cross-border e-commerce business in Henan has not only promoted a large number of traditional enterprises and made-in-Henan products to go abroad at a faster pace, but also greatly enriched the domestic market supply, expanded new consumption and better met the people's needs for a better life, thus accelerating the province's deep integration into the nation's new development pattern, said Dr. Zheng Guangjian from the Development Research Center, the People's Government of Henan Province.
