Henan's Imports and Exports Up 15.2% in Past 2 Months

News from Zhengzhou Customs on March 9 -- From January to February, Henan's import and export value saw a year-on-year increase of 154.1 billion yuan, ranking 8th in China and 1st in Central China.

Specifically, Henan's export value increased 30.2 percent to 102.62 billion yuan, while import value declined 6.2 percent to 51.48 billion yuan, resulting in a trade surplus of 51.14 billion yuan with a surge of 113.6 percent.

Foreign-invested enterprises were contributing an increasingly larger share of Henan's foreign trade thanks to the accelerating efforts in attracting foreign business and investment. Over the past 2 months, there were 6,959 enterprises with import and export achievements across the province with a year-on-year increase of 639 or over 10 percent. Specifically, the import and export value of foreign-invested enterprises rose 30.6 percent to 81.97 billion yuan, accounting for 53.2 percent of the provincial total, 6.3 percentage points higher over the same period of last year. Private enterprises registered 57.74 billion yuan in import and export value with a year-on-year decrease of 2.8 percent, accounting for 37.5 percent of the provincial total.

Henan's foreign trade market kept expanding with the effective implementation of RCEP and the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative. The US, the ASEAN, the EU, South Korea and Japan remained top 5 of Henan's trade partners over the past 2 months. Henan's foreign trade with the RCEP member countries expanded 32.7 percent year-on-year to 48.27 billion yuan, accounting for 31.3 percent of the provincial total. Among them, the foreign trade with South Korea and Japan saw an obvious growth, each increasing 37.4 percent and 140 percent over the previous year. Besides, the trade with countries along the Belt and Road reported a year-on-year growth of 18.8 percent to 41.69 billion yuan.
